Too old to wear a playsuit? Thats the question I ask myself everytime I open a magazine style section, everyone is talking about them. But what makes a playsuit wearable for a woman in her mid-thirties, without looking like mutton dressed as lamb?

I think it boils down to a number of different factors, get them right and you’ll look sexy and on trend, get them wrong and you’ll end up looking like you’re wearing a babygrow.

Firstly, is the all important confidence. You have got to feel comfortable in your playsuit, Which means choosing one that suits you. Go for something simple that you can easily dress up or dress down, depending on your mood and the occasion. What occasions would you wear a playsuit to? I would have to say that you have got to pick your audience. Wearing a playsuit to your gran’s Birthday party, would probably be a wrong move, unless you want to stand out like a sore thumb. However, If you choose the right accessories for your playsuit you can wear it on holiday as you stroll along the beach, a day out at the races or even a night out. Though you need to pick a versitle style if you want to wear your playsuit over and over again.

Shoes are very important as an addition to your playsuit, they help you decide on the mood for the whole outfit. High shoes will make your playsuit a statement and give a sexy night-time look, whereas flat shoes give you a more casual look for those hot summer days and holiday strolls. I think that Wedges look great with a playsuit as they are a summer staple for your wardrobe, and make your outfit sexy but not too dressed up, which is the look we are going for at our age.

Accessories often make the outfit, If you’re playsuit is plain, choose a statement necklace which grabs attention, brings your outfit up to date and bang on trend. If your Playsuit is patterned, limit yourself to a small necklace and a few bangles as you definately don’t want to over do it and risk ruining the playsuit look altogether. You could even add a silk scarf to your playsuit on a chillier day or add a waist belt if you want to? Dont be afraid to add a cardigan to your outfit, be it a cropped cardigan or a big oversized wooly one. Both will look great on those Chillier days.

Cleavage is definately a one to watch where Playsuits are concerned. Showing too much cleavage will give your playsuit the completely wrong message, you are trying to be understatedly sexy and not tarty and tacky. If you can find a playsuit with a mid neck, that is perfect, definately do not go near one with a deeply plunging neckline, not a good idea at all!

Leg Length is also something you have got to watch out for, try to find a playsuit with longer legs. At our age we shouldnt really be wearing or want to be wearing  hotpant style playsuits where our bums hang out the bottom. Its not attractive and not what other people want to see. If you can, you could wear opaque black tights with your playsuit, especially if you’re nervous, at least until you get confident enough to wear them all summer long!

There’s no reason there should be an age limit on playsuits, as long as you do it right… Good luck!
